The Person Behind Lead The Way

My name is Charlotte Barnes and I have worked in the Canine Industry for many years. Lead The Way has evolved over the years and the once little family is now a huge one. What began as a local dog walking business has progressed with love into becoming a fully trained Canine Behaviourist & Trainer.

Having worked with countless dogs of all breeds, ages and sizes I have learnt so much from observing the communication between dogs and working alongside a whole variety of these dogs with different personalities and ways of learning.

This led me to complete a Canine Communication Diploma to a Distinction standard and from there my need to learn more developed.

I discovered that I had a way with dogs and empathy towards each dog and the way they learn, develop and progress.

Becoming a Canine Behaviourist and Trainer was the natural progression for me. I trained with the Cambridge Institute of Dog Behaviour and Training.

During my training I have qualified in the following areas:

  • Common Canine Behaviour Problems
  • The Complete Canine
  • Advanced Common Canine Behaviour Problems
  • Breed Specific Behaviour

This qualification is recognised by the following:

  • PETbc
  • Guild of Dog Trainers
  • Kennel Club Preferred Educational Provider

My training is always ongoing as I am always following up and researching other areas when it comes to behaviour as this will keep all my knowledge and practices up to date to ensure the best advice and programmes can be put into place.

I am also a member of the Guild of Dog Trainers. Being accepted as a member of the Guild of Dog Trainers is a reflection of my commitment and dedication to my role as a dog trainer. The guild itself is Britains top organisation where all the trainers within it are committed to offering the best dog training.

The Guild is passionate about training dogs using methods which evolve from creating understanding between dog and human. To do this successfully the Guild recognises that its critical for dog trainers and owners to understand how dogs think, how they develop, their innate behaviours and their unique species characterises.

I have always had my own dogs and currently have a Working Cocker Spaniel who inspired the whole idea behind Lead The Way.

Prior to working with dogs, I worked in the equine industry which took me many places around the UK. Having always worked with and alongside animals has benefited me hugely on my path that led up to the behaviourist that I am today as being with these animals day in and day out shows you so much about each individual and shows you compassion for all animals for the way they think, learn and respond to people in general.

I look forward to hearing from you,
